Biology SKE Course at Aardvark SKE (Self-funded)

A biology Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) course, often referred to as a refresher course, is designed to equip graduates with the necessary knowledge to embark on a teacher training position in biology. At Aardvark SKE, we offer 100% online biology SKE courses, specializing in this approach and boasting a proven track record with numerous universities and SCITTs.

Our biology SKE course commenced in January 2016, providing students with a comprehensive exploration of essential biology topics taught at GCSE level in UK schools, along with optional A-level units.

What sets our courses apart is their bespoke nature, allowing each student to follow a tailored pathway through the course material. With guidance from qualified biology teachers, students are directed towards the most relevant units in preparation for Initial Teacher Training (ITT). At Aardvark SKE, we take pride in offering a personalized, engaging, and practical learning experience, surpassing the expectations typically associated with online SKE courses.

If you're interested in completing a biology SKE course with us, please request an application form, and a member of our team will be in touch promptly.

Please note that our SKE courses are exclusively tailored for pre-ITT students holding a conditional offer to complete a PGCE/School Direct teacher training program.

Qualifications: Teacher, Head of Biology, and SKE Tutor

With over a decade of experience in education, I've proudly served as the Head of Biology at a prominent UK Grammar school for more than 10 years. Since 2007, I've been dedicated to teaching, with a specific focus on Ecology and Animal Behavioural Science, stemming from my 2:1 degree in Environmental Science and applied biology.

Additionally, I contribute to the regional Teacher Training Program, furthering my commitment to the development of future educators.

Passionate about innovative teaching methods, I seamlessly integrate technology into my lessons and have taken on the teaching of IT within my school. My approach to education goes beyond academic achievement; I prioritize the holistic development of my students, nurturing their curiosity and fostering a genuine passion for the subject.

In addition to my teaching duties, I've taken on various leadership roles, including overseeing the Duke of Edinburgh Award program at my school. My dedication to outdoor activities has been recognized with the Jack Petchey award for my contributions to outdoor pursuits. I've also been actively involved in extracurricular activities such as science club, archery club, and baking club, enriching the school community beyond the classroom.

Outside of work, I indulge my passion for outdoor adventures, including archery, camping, and hiking. These pursuits not only recharge my batteries but also inspire my teaching practice, infusing it with a sense of adventure and exploration.
